About 18,000 books are available covering all subjects. The emphasis is on economy and related fields, politics, philosophy, tourism and travel, higher education in France, science and contemporary culture (literature, media, cinema, architecture, music, design, etc). Part of the collection is in English, which is being replenished regularly.
Periodicals & Newspapers
A hundred titles of periodicals and newspapers are on free access, giving you most recent information on what is going on in France, on variety of Key-words. You will find Le Monde, L’Express, Le Nouvel Observateur, Paris Match, Elle, Cuisine et vins de France, Les Cahiers du Cinema, and many others.

CD-Roms & Internet
FIRC has added a new dimension to its ever-growing collection of multimedia documents. In addition to the CD-ROMs for reference, there is now a range of CD-ROMs that may be borrowed. Members holding the Multimedia, Family or the Institutional membership may now borrow 1 CD-Rom for a period of 1 week. CD-roms available are in from a series on literary figures, French history and civilization, French cuisine, educational games for children, and many more!
In addition, there is Internet for public access, where a selection of web sites about France can be consulted. The cost is Rs. 20 for half an hour.
A separate post has been dedicated for allowing people to consult online the journals like Le Monde, Le Figaro, etc. for free of cost

Music collection
1,730 CDs are available; French classical, jazz, rock, rap, raï, pop, folk, international etc. Our music collection is being added regularly, with the latest releases.

825 documentary films and footage on video as well as on DVD, subtitled in English, meant specially for media professionals and institutions, are also offered.

1200 are available in Film section, with English subtitles in DVD & VHS formats. Films by renowned international directors other than French are also available in the World category.

Audiovisual facilities
State-of-the-art audiovisual equipment like DVD players, Hi-Fi and VHS Video cassette player with infrared cordless headphones enables our members either to view documentary videocassettes or to listen to audio CDs, without disturbing the overall atmosphere of the library, which is just ideal for spending hours on reference material.

Acquiring an article (paid service)
FIRC provides the facility of remote acquisition of over copies over 8 million bibliographical references: articles, monographs, reports, congresses, theses ... daily updated from INIST-CNRS in any field such as, science & technology, social sciences, history and literature.
Once the articles / document has been identified, please fill in a form available at IRC library or at any one of the network libraries and we will get a copy of the document for you.

Printouts of information can be requested against a payment of Rs.5/- per exposure.
Two on-line catalogues (OPAC) are kept entirely at your disposal to facilitate your bibliography searches.
